In the best of examples, it can look to the future as well. But in the last decade or so, a small group of winemakers have focused intently on the region’s past. In short: They are producing some of the most exciting wines in the world. But the industry has been declining since the 1980s as consumers in Britain, the biggest market for inexpensive sherry, began to lose interest in those mediocre sweet wines. Many producers went out of business and the land planted to vines dwindled from roughly 70,000 acres to around 15,000.

MADRID, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Dozens of international and domestic flights operated by Spanish flag-carrier Iberia were disrupted on Saturday by a problem in the company's booking and boarding system, the airline said. Five flights - to London, Lisbon, Vigo, Barcelona and Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain - were cancelled, a spokeswoman for Iberia, part of International Consolidated Airlines Group (ICAG.L), said. "At 11.30 a.m. the delays have been up to an hour in flights in Spain and Europe. We have volunteers working to solve the problem as soon as possible." It did not give any further detail about the nature of the problem or when it was likely to be resolved.
Countries from Spain and France to as far north as Norway and Sweden are experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures for this time of year. When the band of air is wavier than normal, it can move warm air northward or conversely cause polar air to reach farther south. Still, it’s clear that climate change is amplifying the consequences of jet stream anomalies, O’Reilly said. Across western and central Europe, unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to persist for the next two weeks. While it’s unusual, the anomalous warm spell fits within the bigger pattern of global warming, Pershing said.
NICE, France, Oct 27 (Reuters) - France and Spain experienced unusually warm temperatures on Thursday, bringing some bathers out to beaches but also adding to mounting concerns about changing weather patterns in Europe. Western Europe's unusually balmy October follows a summer during which blistering temperatures parched farmlands and rivers and wildfires ran amok. Beach resorts across France have extended their season as the unusually hot weather keeps tourists coming. "This is a summer season that is not ending," said Rene Colomban, head of the Nice beach operators association.
A new generation of narcos are taking over in some of Mexico's most powerful criminal groups. They're bringing some changes to the drug trade, including new music to celebrate their exploits. "This music was a consequence of the Sinaloa Cartel's plugs [contacts] in Atlanta, where Trap music first went viral," a Flechas commander told Insider. The songs provide a different — and maybe more accurate — version of what is happening inside Mexico's criminal underworld, Ramírez added. At the top of this new generation of narcos are the "narco juniors" who are following their fathers into the business.
KVEO reported that Texas police arrested a 26-year-old woman for allegedly performing a self-induced abortion. Abortion clinics in Texas have tried to block the law in court, arguing it would prohibit care for "at least 85% of Texas abortion patients." The Starr County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment asking for more information on the incident. "This is a developing story and we don't yet know all the details surrounding this tragic event," Gonzalez told Texas Public Radio. When SB 8 was introduced, abortion clinics in states neighboring Texas told Insider they were flooded with requests for reproductive healthcare from people who could no longer acquire it in Texas.
